School officials are working on updating the Master Plan for Appomattox County High School. A special committee comprised of school board members and members of the Board of Supervisors have been debating whether to renovate or replace the high school. The building has some critical issues, including problems with its electrical systems. According to sources, based on concern over cost, and a potentially having to raise taxes to pay for it, committee members say they are leaning toward the renovation option. Supervisors on the committee saw the renovation project as a long-term, rather than short-term, goal. Administrators say supervisors would most likely support the school division going ahead to fix the problems in the next couple years, rather than holding out for a more substantial renovation.
