The Appomattox County School Board has adopted a budget. In the past five years, the division has cut 11 percent of its teaching staff. But, according to the News & Advance, the 2014-15 budget approved Thursday provides $300,000 to restore or add six teaching positions: one for English, one for auto-mechanics, two for math remediation, and two for school improvement resources. Officials say restoring those teaching positions will keep class sizes down.
