The Appomattox County School Director of Human Resources and Finance last week informed the School Board that there was a risk of having to cut more teacher positions if a recently submitted budget increase wasn’t approved in the County’s budget. Earlier this month, the school board submitted funding increase request of about $1.1 million saying current school year funding would not adequately cover projected expenses for the upcoming year. Yesterday, the board of supervisors proposed approving just over 266-thousand less than the request but about 890-thousand dollars more than what the schools usually gets. The school board is currently ranked No. 124 based on funding the division receives from the local government.
