Visits to libraries are down, but web traffic and downloads are up, according to a study released in December by the Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life project. Library officials say they’re seeing an increase in usage of libraries’ digital services, such as websites and e-books. The News & Advance reports an increase in web traffic and online checkouts for digital or e-materials, has increased for most Lynchburg-area libraries by at least 1,000 between fiscal years 2012 and 2013.
