Officials say telemarketers are targeting Campbell County businesses. According to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office several of out-of-state marketers have contacted local businesses and either identifying themselves as working with/for the Sheriff’s Office or indicating that the Sheriff’s Office supports their solicitation. The companies state that they produce and distribute refrigerator magnets with business ads on them. In a press release, the department identified only three organizations that have letters of consent to allow solicitation on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office. They are: The National Child Safety Council; The Department Calendars, LLC, and the VA Sheriff’s Institute. Anyone receiving a questionable solicitation for funds or raises concerns, are asked not to consent to give to the agency until contacting the Sheriff’s Office.
