The Avoca Museum in Altavista will open for the season later this month. A number of projects have been completed since the historic home of Revolutionary War patriot Col. Charles Lynch closed last October. Owned by the town; Avoca is on National Register of Historic Places and holds a number of its own events during the year. According to the museum director, the site has had a part in the history of Native-Americans, African-Americans and women, along with its role in the, Revolutionary War and Civil War.
