A major winter storm is expected to impact the area starting this afternoon. With heavy snow in the forecast, travel will quickly become treacherous. The City will attempt to clear heavy snow from more than 850 lane miles of street as quickly as possible. Crews will be working around the clock to clear city streets, handle slick spots and address other street problems. The first priority will be clearing all primary streets and heaviest traffic routes, then will move on to all collector streets and bus routes. Residential streets are only plowed if more than two inches of snow accumulates. Public works urges residents to avoid parking in the street.
