Ballistic Vest Distribution Is Part Of National Settlement

Officers received Level III ballistic vest for Bedford County Sherriff’s Office on Thursday. 114 vests have been presented to more than a dozen agencies across Virginia. According to the News & Advance, the sheriff’s office is still waiting on 379 vests. The grants to distribute the vests are part of a $1.5 billion court settlement between the United States and Abbott Laboratories for Medicaid fraud. 91 other vests have been distributed throughout the country through funds provided by Moose International and other supporting organizations.
