The Bedford County Planning Commission on Tuesday voted to recommend that the Board of Supervisors award special use permits to a water service project at Smith Mountain Lake. The planning commission is endorsing the measure…the project which has two parts, would span from Smith Mountain Lake with a new Water Treatment Plant to Bedford and eventually Forest, with an expanded pump station in the High Point subdivision. The treatment plant is to be built in two phases with the first set to be completed by the end of 2016. Both Moneta projects are part of the plan to multiply Bedford Regional Water Authority’s capacity to add service to the town of Bedford.
