The Bedford County Planning Commission has approved two special project reviews relating to construction of a new water treatment plant on county-owned property in Moneta. The facility, which would send water to the town of Bedford and to Forest from Smith Mountain Lake, was proposed by the Bedford Regional Water Authority. The News & Advance reports, further discussion will come between the commission and other officials in relation to special use permits and zoning issues. The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing Monday on whether the county should convey the property to the BRWA. According to the article, the site plan and details of the project still are in the development process, but the authority hopes to begin construction next year.
