The Town of Bedford will be looking for a new police chief. After 34 years in law enforcement, Jim Day will step down from his position at the end of September. Day was named chief of the Bedford Police Department in 2006; and oversaw Bedford’s reversion to a town, which increased his department’s jurisdictional area without adding officers. The chief thinks his department — 24 officers and three civilians — handled the transition well.
