Authorities say 36 individuals will no longer be selling pills in the area as a result of an investigation that has been underway since the fall 2012. The Drug Enforcement Administration sent two special agents to the region. Federal, state and local police combined efforts, and so far three dozen people have been charged in five criminal conspiracy cases—which investigators describe as a large, profitable and violent illegal drug organization in the Bedford County region. Of the 36 people, 15 have pleaded guilty and several have already been sentenced. The defendants who have not pleaded guilty have elected to go to trial early next year.
