Planning for next year’s sesquicentennial events in Appomattox is coming along. According the director of parks, recreation and tourism for the county, about 80-percent of the event’s attractions are already being coordinated for the 150th anniversary. The national park service’s incident command team is working closely with the historical park to plan for the week’s activities, including those outside of the park. Meetings between town and county officials, law enforcement and the Department of Transportation are slated for the coming weeks. Logistics and traffic plans are still being worked out.
