The Nelson County Board of Supervisors on Friday, held a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the county ordinance chapter dealing with unsafe buildings and structures in the county. The News & Advance reports, although the Nelson County Building Inspections department already has unilateral power to determine which structures are unsafe, the proposed article would give the county the authority to demolish or repair the structure, after alerting the property owner, then recover costs for the work from property owners. The board deferred a vote on the amendment until a future meeting.
