From Lynchburg City Police: On November 19, 2015, Detectives from the Lynchburg Police Department and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (North Carolina) arrested Travis Jermale Singleton, 20 of Rockingham, NC. Singleton was located in Richmond County, NC (suburb of Rockingham, NC) and was arrested on one count of 2nd Degree Murder in the death of Brandon Carter. The vehicle that is believed to have been driven during the shooting was also located in Richmond County. Singleton waived extradition and was transported back to Lynchburg where he is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond. The LPD is continuing to investigate the incident and additional arrests are expected.
Earlier: A Lynchburg man was killed in a drive-by shooting. Officers responded to the 1500 block of Cliff Street at 12:24pm after reports of shots fired in the area. Once on the scene they found 29-year-old Brandon Carter lying on the front porch of 1512 Cliff Street. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses in the area told police a gold colored Dodge four door sedan with out of state tags, fired numerous shots from the passenger side of the vehicle. It was reportedly occupied by multiple black males.
