From Lynchburg Police: On 9/8/16 at approximately 09:30 am, Officers with the Lynchburg Police Department were in the area of the 1000 Block of Clay Street when shots were fired. Officers received a description of two suspects from witnesses in the area and a direction of travel. A perimeter was established and the area was searched. Officers were unable to locate the two suspects described as black males in their 20’s. The first suspect was not wearing a shirt and the other was wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts. Both suspects are considered armed and dangerous. The information we have at this time indicates that this does not appear to be a random act. However we ask that citizens in the area remain vigilant and alert for anyone matching the above descriptions and to notify the LPD if they observe anyone matching the suspect’s description. There have been no reports of injuries at this time. Update: At approximately 12:15 pm a suspect matching the description of the shirtless male was taken into custody in the 500 Block of Eleventh St. Update 2: On 9/8/2016, just after 9:00 pm, the second suspect, 25-year-old male Rogernal Ferguson, was taken into custody in the 2200-block of Aragon St. without incident. He was arrested on outstanding warrants for Strangulation and Domestic Assault and Battery. No additional warrants have been obtained for Ferguson. The suspect mentioned in the first update is Dontae Spinner, an 18-year-old resident of Lynchburg. After further investigation, Spinner was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Reckless Handling of a Firearm. The incident remains under investigation, however, no further suspects are at large.
