A conservation Police Officer with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries has been involved in two water rescues in less than a week. Officer Dallas Neel was one of two first responders being credited with saving the lives of two men on Friday. Authorities say first responders arrived shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Friday, after dispatchers received a call from a caller who said a boat tipped over in a private pond at Krantzs Corner Road, off U.S. 460. Neel was also part of the team that rescued eight people from the James River on Monday. Neel tells media outlets that people should remember to wear their life jackets and to take water levels and temperature into consideration before getting on the water.
