Campbell County staff will join county school officials this summer to host a workshop on the proposed school construction capital improvement plan. The plan mainly affects the high schools and middle schools in the county. The workshop is planned for June, but representatives have already met with consultants and narrowed down the choices: either building nothing and renovate what already exists OR consolidating the county’s high schools and middle schools. The Board of Supervisors in December requested more information about costs and the financial details of consolidating the schools and for keeping the facilities the same. According the County Administrator, those options are the least expensive of all other variations. The workshop will be the first leg of a school capital improvement plan, which could take up to 30 years to complete.
