centra logoCentra will begin creating a mental health assessment site this fall to serve those who are facing a mental health emergency. Officials announced that Lynchburg’s Horizon Behavioral Health was chosen to receive the Crisis Intervention Team Assessment Site funding. Media outlets report it will be staffed with its own, trained law enforcement, therefore police officers who bring them in, will be able to leave instead of having to stay with a patient through an evaluation. Horizon plans to add the center to the Lynchburg General Emergency Department; and renovations are slated to begin in September.
