A Lynchburg native is back on U.S. soil, after being locked up overseas for more than three months. 33 year old, Sherman Hughes’ condo in the Dominican Republic was destroyed by fire and he was blamed for setting the blaze. Hughes is a teacher and went there to start an exchange program; but the trip ended with him facing 30 years in prison for arson. He tells media outlets that documents in the Dominican Republic are not electronic and take far longer to process; but has been cleared of the crime.
