The Appomattox County School Board yesterday voted to move the division’s start date a week earlier than this year. Officials say an earlier start will allow the first semester to end before winter break. Board members and administrators discussed coming up with a system to help provide attendance flexibility for families who’ve already made vacation bookings for that week and for students involved in summer athletics championships. The new first day of classes for the 2014-2015 school year will be on Monday, August 11. The last school day will be May 22 2015.
