Clockmaker to Close Doors to Business After 37 Years

The hours are ticking away for a local clockmaker, who is preparing to close the doors to his business and set his time for semi-retirement. Next week will see the end of nearly 4-decades of business at Harding’s Clocks and Music Boxes in Amherst County. Jim Harding has performed clock repairs and sold timepieces from his Monroe shop on U.S. 29 business over the past 37 years. Harding’s last day is August 15. After that he plans to do limited repairs from home. According to WDBJ-7, all remaining clock inventory will be auctioned off, along with the building.
