Area colleges are experiencing a decrease in spring enrollment. Residential enrollment was up just last fall, but collectively, local colleges have seen a 6.5 percent decline for the upcoming session. Residential enrollment refers to students who take classes on campus; and experts say the drop is due to graduations. Other reasons for student departures include financial, personal and academic. The dean of student services at Central Virginia Community College tells sources, that the school is considering offering different programs, similar to the STEM program that might bring enrollment numbers up by next semester.
