Lynchburg City Council, yesterday heard some critical feedback about the new trash collection system debuting. Beginning April 7th, the city will phase out trash tags in favor of prepaid trash bags, which are intended to make enforcement of the paid trash collection system easier. Issues brought up by citizens Monday night ranged from environmental impact of more plastic bags; to concerns over affordability. Suggestions from residents included: allowing people to buy prepaid bags one at a time and an annual decal for those committed to recycling. Officials say all suggestions will be considered.
