Appomattox County Supervisors yesterday voted to advertise a budget with a proposed six-cent real estate tax hike. The board also agreed to take $1 million out of the unassigned fund to help cover expenses and a revenue shortfall. Sources say the supervisors made several cuts to the budget. No capital improvement projects are included in the current budget; no county employee is getting a raise. The fire and rescue services also aren’t receiving additional money. The budget and tax rate will go before public hearing April 28 before the scheduled vote at the May 5 Board of Supervisors meeting.
