The Central Virginia Community College Altavista Center will be relocating. CVCC’s president says the campus is not leaving the community, but is looking at two other locations within the town to hold classes. The Altavista Journal reports, the reason for the change is because the cost at the current facility is outpacing the revenue; due in part, to a drop in student enrollment. The College has off-site centers in Amherst, Appomattox and Bedford counties. In Campbell County, an early-college program is offered at the Technical Center in Yellow Branch–the Altavista Center opened in 2001. A new location is expected to be decided on in time for the fall class schedule to be publicized.
