The Campbell County Board of Supervisors has approved a request by the Sheriff’s office to transfer a surplus car to Central Virginia Community College. Normally, when a vehicle is taken off the road and replaced with a new, the older vehicle is offered to other county offices. If no county office needs the vehicle, as was the case in this instance, it is to be sold at a surplus auction. Sources say the community college asked the sheriff’s office if it could acquire the vehicle in support of an internship program in which students enrolled in the administration of justice program while attending the police academy at the Criminal Justice Academy in Lynchburg.
