Altavista Town Council tomorrow will look at a development plan for the Altavista Community Transit System. Officials say the plan compares to that of the town’s comprehensive plan, and includes background information about the system, transportation needs and issues and suggested improvements over the six years. According to the Altavista Journal, recommendations include: extended hours on Saturday and in the evening, having Sunday service, route adjustments and expansion and bus shelters with benches. Altavista Community Transit System began operating with fares in January 2011. Ridership so far in 2013 is just over 15,800 passengers.
