Plans for an Amherst County substance abuse clinic has been put on hold. The proposed facility listed as “clinic and counseling” would have provided outpatient substance abuse treatment and counseling for addictions to heroin and other drugs. The facility’s management company originally sought a zoning permit for a clinic slated to occupy several suites of the Seminole Shopping Center in Madison Heights. But the group withdrew the application from the County’s Planning Commission earlier this month. The facility faced several state codes that deal with licensure “of certain providers and one that regulates how close clinics can be to day care centers and schools.
