Felony murder charges were dropped this week in Pittsylvania County against a man accused of supplying drugs that ultimately contributed to the overdose death of a Hurt woman. 28 year old, Justin Kyle Norris, of Thomasville, N.C., was accused of supplying heroin to 27 year old, Mary Elizabeth Parker. According to court records, Parker drove to the defendants home to acquire the drugs; she died in her home the next morning Oct. 9, 2012. Norris had been indicted for felony murder, conspiracy to obtain a controlled substance (heroin) and possession of heroin. On Monday, the defense attorney argued lack of jurisdiction and improper venue–pointed out that Norris never stepped foot in Virginia. The judge in the case granted the motion to dismiss.
