A Lynchburg woman was taken to the hospital after fire broke out in her home early today. Authorities say firefighters responded to a house fire and reported explosion around 7:30 this morning. According to officials, there was some type of explosion inside the Polk Street home but the house sustained mostly smoke damage. Sources say the woman was the only person inside the home when the fire started; she was treated for burns. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
