Christmas at the Elks National Home in Bedford is a very special time of the year… The annual Christmas display is a very special occasion and family tradition for many near and far—for nearly sixty years. It is anticipated that more than 25,000 cars with over 100,000 visitors will enjoy the 50,000-plus lights and illuminated Christmas scenes. From a few lights on the porch, to the first outdoor decoration of the sleigh and reindeer in 1953…The display has grown each year with large crowds coming from Bedford and the surrounding areas to view the displays by 1955. Erecting the lights and displays usually begins the first week in November and changes are made each season, adding new displays and/or changing the arrangement. This year’s official lighting ceremony will be held at 5pm Friday, December 13 –and will remain up each evening from 5:30 until 10pm through December 31st.
