The Lockn’ Music Festival kicked off without the traffic hassles that were seen last year. The event is attracting thousands for its second year. The four-day event kicked off Thursday morning; with the average wait for festival goers under 90 minutes, as opposed to 2013’s hours-long stretches. Officials say about 45 officers took shifts monitoring U.S. 29 through Nelson County, but there were no major changes in their traffic patterns from last year. Organizers say better planning and parking logistics were key to shortening the wait time. VDOT reminds motorist to expect some delays in the area of the festival for the remainder of the weekend.
