From the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office: At 4:20 p.m. Sunday May 10, 2015, Bedford County 911 dispatchers received a call reporting a shooting at 961 Summit Ridge Drive, Blue Ridge. Bedford County deputies arrived on the scene at 4:38 p.m. and found a deceased white male lying in the driveway of the residence. It appeared the victim had been shot. The victim was identified as Gary Hamilton, age 45, 961 Summit Ridge Road, Blue Ridge. The body was transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke. Sunday night, investigators arrested Jeffery Thomas Caldwell, age 52, 208 Summit Ridge Drive, Blue Ridge, Va. Caldwell was charged with Second Degree Murder and is being held in the Bedford Adult Detention Center without bond.
