Fire and Rescue agencies in Nelson County are desperate for volunteers. According to the Nelson County Emergency Services Coordinator, all fire and rescue volunteer agencies in the county have a vital need right now for more volunteers, especially drivers and EMTs. Officials say a combination of factors are resulting in a decrease in the number— from the economic decline; to increased training requirements… to the cost of fuel. Interested volunteers can opt for a ride-along shift to see if the job is suited for them.
