The weather coupling of warm, dry air along with gusty winds means an enhanced fire danger for the Lynchburg area. According to the National Weather Service, conditions today are creating an increased risk of fires across the region. In fact ALL Virginia residents are reminded that open burning is prohibited before 4 pm each day through April 30th. Accidental escaped debris burns are the number one cause of wildfires; and with wind gust between 15 and 25 mph this afternoon, experts are urging citizens to exercise caution handling any potential ignition source, including properly discard all smoking materials.
