The former Amherst County treasurer who, last month, pleaded guilty to two counts of embezzlement and one count of money laundering will be sentenced this spring. The News & Advance reports, 60 year old, Evelyn Martin admitted to committing felonious transactions during her employment. Martin served as treasurer from 2009 to 2011 and worked for more than three decades in the Amherst County Treasurer’s Office. According to the article, Martin made multiple cash deposits and diverted from deposit into the county’s account, a total of about 29-thousand dollars in all, between 2008 and 2011. An investigation launched in 2012; Sentencing is set for April 8.
