To sell or demolish…that is the question that still remains unanswered regarding the fate of the former Amherst Baptist Church. The Board of Supervisors last week voted NOT to adopt a resolution that would have provided two provisions for the building’s sale. An organization called Second Stage has been utilizing the property by hosting numerous cultural events and farmers markets on its grounds. The New Era Progress reports, the group of volunteers announced during a meeting on April 15, its acceptance of the county’s offer of continued use of the church parking lot for farmer’s markets events, which are slated to begin on Thursdays starting again on May 15.
