Gleaning for the World, has received recognition from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. Disaster Coordinator, Roy St. John was presented the “superstar” award, on Monday. Gleaning For The World is a Concord-based nonprofit that provides humanitarian aid and disaster relief around the world. St. John works with the Voluntary Organization Active in Disaster System in the state; and has worked for Gleaning for three years, coordinating dozens of major disaster relief efforts.
