The Greater Lynchburg Transit Company’s transfer center is nearing completion. The two-story building and bus canopy across from the train station on Kemper Street is the only point where all city routes intersect. There have been roadblocks and weather related delays and construction has taken longer than expected, but the project remains within budget. According to a report compiled last month, more than 70 percent of the contingency fund is intact. Officials expect construction will be substantially complete by the end of April and open shortly afterward. Sources say GLTC plans to keep operating a bus stop at The Plaza.
