Lynchburg’s Get Downtown event has been canceled due to expected rain from Hurricane Ian.  Organizers say because of the months of coordination involved, it won’t be re-scheduled.  Day at the Point at Point of Honor has been canceled as well. 

The Homefront Festival at the DDay Memorial is POSTPONED. A new date will be announced later. Tickets purchased in advance will be honored as general admission tickets, good on any day.  

The Blessing of the Animals at St. Stephens Episcopal Church on Perrowville Road has been moved indoors to the church parish hall. It’s from 10 to 12. 

Some high school games were played last night. The Legacy Wealth Management Game of the Week – Altavista at Appomattox – is still on for tonight at 7 and you can hear the call on WLNI. 

EARLIER: After lashing Florida, Hurricane Ian is forecast TO HEAD OUT OVER THE ATLANTIC AND THEN HEAD BACK INLAND… IMPACTING GEORGIA, THE CAROLINAS…. AND VIRGINIA…. WHERE GOVERNOR GLENN YOUNGKIN HAS ALREADY DECLARED A STATE OF EMERGENCY. HE SPOKE TO FOX NEWS.
