From Lynchburg City Police: On Friday, February 13, 2015 @ 11:08 am, Lynchburg Police Department officers stopped a black Nissan Versa on Boonsboro Rd. near Link Rd. The vehicle and driver were wanted in connection with a Larceny from Belk at River Ridge Mall. When officers approached the vehicle, the driver fled East on Boonsboro Rd. towards Rivermont Ave. As the vehicle fled, the driver struck another motorist and then a telephone pole on Rivermont Ave.Traffic Unit Officers investigated the crash and determined that the Nissan was traveling East on Rivermont Ave. when it attempted to pass a white van on a double yellow line. The Nissan struck the van on the left side and ran off the roadway to the left and into a telephone pole. The driver of the Nissan has been identified as Marian Lockhart 53 yoa, of Lynchburg. Lockhart was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital by Lynchburg Fire and EMS where he is listed in Stable Condition. There were no other injuries as a result of this Motor Vehicle Crash. Lockhart has been charged with Grand Larceny, Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, Reckless Driving, and Felony Eluding.
