The Virginia Tourism Corporation has awarded The Museum of the Confederacy and its four partners a $14,500 matching grant to help promote Appomattox’s upcoming sesquicentennial events. Officials say the money will be spent on a new rack card for visitor centers, listing the events taking place across the region this year. The grant will also go towards developing a banner to display during the history mobile’s stops and develop marketing ads for a publication throughout the mid-Atlantic region. The grant was one of 42 awarded to tourism sites and localities throughout the state.
