Man Wanted For Murder Has Turned Himself In: A two day man hunt has ended and the suspect is in custody. The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office says Cordell L Carter has been arrested for an Amherst County homicide. This morning authorities searched a home on Federal Street in Lynchburg and last night a home in Campbell County in search of Carter who had been considered armed and dangerous. According to a press release, Carter turned himself in to authorities earlier today and has been charged with the murder of 30 year old, Jennifer Johnson. The body of Johnson was found deceased in her home on Tuesday afternoon following a 911 call. Her body has been taken to Medical Examiner office; further Details on the investigation and the cause of death are not being released pending an autopsy.

Law enforcement officials are continuing the search for the suspect in the death of an Amherst woman. According to the Amherst County Sheriff’s office, the body of 30 year old Jennifer Harper Johnson was found deceased in her home around 2pm Tuesday afternoon. Police found clues at the scene that lead to the search of 49 year old, Cordell Lionel Carter. Warrants have been issued for Carter charging him with Johnson’s murder. Last night 10 tactical teams surrounded his home in Campbell County on Old Rustburg Road but he was not found at the location. A press release states: “due to the nature of the charges, the suspect is considered armed and dangerous”. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information regarding this crime.
