Bedford County Planning Commission today will review several proposed changes to county subdivision and zoning ordinances –and could vote on a proposed zoning change that would eliminate restrictions for short-term rentals at Smith Mountain Lake. That particular change to the rules incorporated four years ago, caused protest by some lake residents during last week’s Board of Supervisors meeting. Most of those complaints centered on the noise from and trash left by young people packing into rental homes. The commission will likely make a recommendation to the supervisors, who will have the final word on the matter.
