Time is running out for the Lynchburg Humane Society to win a national challenge, or at least the next leg of the competition. It’s all part of the 2014 ASPCA® Rachel Ray 100K Challenge. There are several levels to the contest and Lynchburg has already won a $5,000 grant by getting the most votes in a photo contest…money that Makena Yarbrough, the executive director of the Lynchburg Humane Society tells WDBJ-7, will be of great benefit. Now the organization needs votes to win a $25,000 community engagement grant. The Lynchburg Humane Society is in a category with 10 other humane shelters that have an intake of 1,500 to 2,500 animals a year. The contest ends on August 31st—To vote on Facebook, visit www.votetosavelives.org.
