Unemployment in Central Virginia declined in November. According to numbers released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Tuesday, the Lynchburg area saw a drop in unemployment rates from October to November; while Amherst County showed the most significant October to November decrease in the unemployment rate. Virginia’s statewide unemployment rate was 5 percent in November, down from October’s 5.5 percent. Just under 4-million people out of a potential labor force of about 4.2 million were employed in Virginia in November. The city of Martinsville had the highest jobless rate.
