Legislation pending in the General Assembly would create a new judgeship on the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court bench for the 24th Judicial Circuit. The News & Advance reports, a two-year study by the National Center for State Courts recommended a net increase of 27 judgeships statewide, with one of them in the 24th Circuit, which includes Lynchburg and Amherst, Bedford, Campbell and Nelson counties. The circuit now has five judges for its Juvenile and Domestic Relations courts.
