LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) _ A Lynchburg jury has awarded Areva Inc. about $16 million in damages in a lawsuit against Babcock & Wilcox. The circuit court jury found that B&W breached a 2004 contract with Areva and misused the company’s trade secrets. The jury said B&W used Areva’s technology in 15 contracts with other businesses and didn’t pay royalties. The News & Advance (http://bit.ly/1xtz8eE ) reports that the jury issued its verdict Wednesday following an eight-day trial. Babcock and Wilcox says it respects the jury’s efforts but doesn’t agree with the verdict. Attorneys for the company say they will file a motion seeking a new trial. Areva says it’s pleased with the verdict.
