The Virginia Department of Transportation has lifting lane closures during the five-day Thanksgiving travel period to keep interstates and highways clear for motorists as they travel to their holiday destinations. Though motorists may encounter permanent work zones or travel delays in some areas such the bridge reconstruction over Buffalo River in Amherst County and bridge over Rockfish River in Nelson County. According to 511virginia, most all other lane closures along interstates and other major roads across the state have been lifted as of noon today and will remain open through noon Monday, Dec. 2.
